Photography in February 2020

February is usually a quiet month for us, a time to prepare for the spring wedding shows and to check and test our equipment so we are ready for the new wedding season.  I rarely book weddings during February, as it is the month I catch up the business side of things, reviewing price lists and services offered as well as preparing for the spring bridal shows.

I have already attended my first bridal show of 2020, at The Holiday Inn, in Peterborough, but will also be exhibiting at the following shows:

The East of England Showground, Peterborough – 16th February.

Stoke Rochford Hall, near Grantham – 1st March.

The Marriott Hotel, Peterborough – 8th March.

Toft Country House Hotel, near Bourne, Lincolnshire – 5th April.

Wisbech St Mary, Community Centre -18th April.

I have had a lot of people visit the studio during February for passport photos, with everyone looking forward to their summer holidays.  There has been an increase in customers requiring passport photos at the studio, mostly due to the fact that the passport office have been rejecting photos that customers have taken themselves or have used the photo booths scattered around town.  Most people fail to realise the passport office have very strict rules when it comes to passport photos, especially concerning measurements.  I make sure all ID photos that leave the studio are measured accurately to meet the exact requirements.   One customer put this all into perspective by saying he had wasted not only money but valuable time, as his passport photos had been rejected twice over a six week period.

I charge £10.00 per set of six images plus a digital file for those applying for passport renewal online.  A small price to pay for peace of mind, knowing the photos will not be rejected by the passport office.

I have also been busy with a commercial shoot for Gist of Spalding, a large haulage company and also Neamlea of Spalding for whom I produced some product shots to be used on Amazon.  I also covered an event for Lincolnshire County Council.

I have also had some restoration and copy work to do this month which I something I really like doing for clients.  I am so lucky to view all of these really old photos that bring back so many memories for our clients and for me a fascinating glimpse into the past.

I am still booking weddings, both for 2020 and 2021 and on 12th February I was privileged to photograph the wedding of Sally and Richard Gray, at Toft Country House Hotel, near Bourne in Lincolnshire.  On 14th February, Valentine’s Day, I was fortunate to be asked by Lincolnshire County Councils Registration Department to attend the very first wedding at Spalding’s brand new Register Office at Priory Road.

Here are a few of my favourite images for February.
